Following Baylor’s dominant victory over previously undefeated Gonzaga, president Joe Biden extended congratulations to both teams.

Like many college basketball fans, president Joe Biden watched the Baylor Bears and the Gonzaga Bulldogs play for the national championship.

After Baylor won their first championship in school history with a dominating 86-70 win over the previously undefeated Bulldogs, Biden offered his congratulations.

Biden also noted that both schools made their communities proud in addition to their schools and was right as both teams endured a long road to reach this game, both hoping to make history.

Though Baylor and Gonzaga didn’t live up to the hype, the game was still a fine way to end the season.

With so much history at stake for the Bears and Bulldogs, only one could come out unscathed and hoisting the trophy. Baylor came in looking for their first title, as did Gonzaga; only the Bulldogs were hoping to go undefeated at 32-0 and be the first to do since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers. Now, the Bears get to enjoy the benefits while Gonzaga becomes the third team in NCAA history to reach the final undefeated and come away empty (1961 Ohio State and 1979 Indiana State).

Daviyon Mitchell and Jared Butler continued their hot streak at the right time while keeping Gonzaga off their game. Butler was also named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player after two sensational games, including leading the Bears in scoring on Monday Night with 22 points.

Baylor certainly had their one shining moment on the biggest stage in college basketball, and getting love from the president certainly doesn’t hurt either.
