Spencer Rattler should have Oklahoma football fans excited about the season ahead.

Oklahoma football star Spencer Rattler is doing his part to get Sooners fans amped up about the upcoming 2021 spring game.

The Sooners quarterback tweeted out a message on how excited he is to play in front of the fans next Saturday. Oklahoma will have one of the best teams in the Power 5 this year.

The reigning Big 12 and Cotton Bowl champions have been slotted as the No. 2 team in ESPN’s preseason FPI Rankings. Rattler is a big reason for that, as he might be the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

Does Rattler have what it takes to lead the Sooners to a national championship this season?

Oklahoma football: Spencer Rattler gives Sooners hope at 2021 national title

Though the Alabama Crimson Tide should remain the favorite to repeat as national champions, Oklahoma is expected to win the Big 12 again and make the College Football Playoff for the fifth time in school history. However, if they do get in, Oklahoma has to do so convincingly and finally win a national semifinal game. The Sooners are 0-4 in those high-profile New Year’s Six bowls.

Because Rattler is arguably the best returning quarterback in the Power 5, he gives the Sooners a real shot at winning it all. However, the Iowa State Cyclones pose a very tough threat in the Big 12. To even get to the playoff, the Sooners will have to beat Matt Campbell’s team, probably twice. After that, they must defeat the likes of Clemson, Ohio State or an SEC juggernaut twice as well.

As long as Rattler improves in year two as the starter, Oklahoma will have one of the best teams.
