Four-star recruits and twin brothers Destin and Keaten Wade decided to leave Tennessee in favor of committing to Kentucky football.

Kentucky football is making a habit of pulling one over on Tennessee. In 2020, they bested the Volunteers on the football field. Now they’ve managed another victory.

On Friday, the Wildcats snagged the commitments of twin four-star prospects Destin and Keaten Wade, who picked Kentucky over home state Tennessee.

It’s a huge win for Mark Stoops and his staff, whose efforts on the recruiting trail are being rewarded more often lately.

Kentucky football bolstered their defense and perhaps their passing game.

Keaten Wade, the No. 188 player in the class, is the 14th highest-rated recruit in Kentucky history. At 6-foot-4, 223 pounds, he is also the top recruit in the Wildcats’ 2022 class as an outside linebacker with serious pass-rushing chops.

His brother, Destin Wade, ranks No. 350 in the class as an athlete. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect piloted Summit HS to a state championship as a quarterback in 2020. While he could end up playing defense at some point, he told 247Sports the chance to compete as a passer helped convince him Kentucky was the place to be.

The Wildcats’ class of 2022 now ranks No. 21 nationally and No. 8 in the SEC. That’s a big leap from last year when they finished last in recruiting ranks for the conference.

The rise is a sign Stoops can continue to build on the No. 25-ranked class of 2020 instead of slipping back down the rankings.

To stay that way, it’ll take some more strong recruiting to close out the haul. They’ve already done some work in the transfer portal this year, but there are just seven commits for the cycle so far.
