Forget Drew Lock, Nikola Jokic should be the Denver Broncos’ quarterback.

It’s been well established that Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic is the best passing big man in NBA history, and one of the best passers in the league, period. But in all honesty, after the dime he threw in Saturday’s game against the Houston Rockets, he might be one of the best passers in any sport.

With 0.9 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter, Rockets center Kelly Olynyk made his second free throw. Jokic, catching the defense sleeping, immediately grabbed the ball out of the net, got his foot out of bounds, wheeled and fired a strike all the way down the court to a wide-open PJ Dozier for a dunk just before the buzzer.

Seriously, John Elway: Maybe it’s time to forget about Drew Lock or the rookies in this year’s NFL Draft class and try throwing some money Jokic’s way as the new quarterback of the Denver Broncos.

Nikola Jokic does it again, making Broncos fans everywhere jealous

Okay, so maybe a seven-foot, 280-pound dude wouldn’t be primed for a breakout NFL career. His lack of mobility and speed matters less on a smaller basketball court, but on a football field with incredible athletes trying to tackle him to the ground, his lack of burst would leave him unable to escape the pocket — and the pain that’d come with playing quarterback.

Plus, you know, there’s the fact that he’s skilled at playing with a basketball, not a football.

But it is somewhat hilarious the best passer in any major Denver sport is Jokic, a basketball player, rather than a quarterback — especially in a city that once housed John Elway and Peyton Manning. Over the last five years, the Broncos have seen Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweiler, Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Drew Lock, Brandon Allen, Jeff Driskel, Brett Rypien and Phillip Lindsay all start at least one game at quarterback.

….Are we sure the Broncos wouldn’t be interested in the Joker?

Next. LeBron James could return next week. dark
