The Cubs provided a positive update on star Kris Bryant following Wednesday’s game after he was hit by a pitch.

The Chicago Cubs had a rough two-game series on the road against the Cleveland Indians. The home team won both times and Kris Bryant even left Wednesday’s game after being hit by a pitch.

Bryant was already nursing an illness and only appeared in the game late as a pinch-hitter. Getting drilled on the hand was the worst possible outcome and some may have feared the worst. Luckily, it appears a bad bruise is the worst of it.

Cubs: Kris Bryant avoids injury after being hit by pitch

Bryant was actually in the starting lineup Tuesday night in what ended up being a 3-2 loss for his squad. His brief appearance Wednesday did not help lead the Cubs to victory in what ended as another low-scoring loss.

The star’s future remains in limbo and Cubs fans are hoping he can lead the team to the World Series in 2021 if this is indeed his last year in town. But the trade deadline could shake up this roster and Bryant missing any time at all would be a major letdown.

He escapes with a contusion and will get a day to rest as the Cubs are not back in action until Friday. That day off is great news for this entire team after a series in Cleveland where no one could seem to get a much-needed big hit.

Next up is a chance to right the ship with a weekend series against the lowly Detroit Tigers.
