A handful of early leaders for Arch Manning’s high-profile recruitment have finally emerged.

After taking it slowly throughout the process, a handful of college football blue-bloods are at the top of the leaderboard to procure Arch Manning‘s five-star 2023 commitment.

The No. 1 quarterback prospect in his class took a handful of visits in June. The grandson of Archie Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning and the son of Cooper Manning stars at Isidore Newman in his native New Orleans. Despite being a legacy at Ole Miss and Tennessee, neither SEC school has emerged as one of the early leaders for his high-profile recruitment for 2023 just yet.

Arch Manning recruitment: Early leaders have emerged after June 2021 visits

Though he only has 12 offers at this time, including from Ole Miss, Tennessee and his uncles’ college coach David Cutcliffe’s Duke Blue Devils, here are the five schools at the top of the list for Manning entering July 2021: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Texas. Alabama, LSU and Texas have had Manning’s interest for a while now. Clemson and Georgia have now entered the foray.

LSU may be the unofficial leader for Manning but that can change if the Tigers don’t rebound after a down 2020. Clemson may be the team to beat, however, after his visit.

With LSU, the top player from Louisiana usually stays in-state unless Nick Saban steals him, but Isidore Newman recruits haven’t often made their way to LSU outside of Odell Beckham. His father would have no issue with him going to an SEC West rival of his alma mater Ole Miss. Manning’s relationship with Steve Sarkisian at Texas is interesting and if Texas can win big in the next year, they could be real contenders for his commitment. You can never discount Alabama, especially with their recent track record of developing quarterbacks. Georgia feel like a dark horse at this point.

It will be a while before Manning commits, but these five programs have to like their chances at this stage of the process.
