Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma stoked rumors of a possible trade away from Los Angeles with a suspicious comment on an Instagram post.

If you’re up for reading some social media tea leaves, you might be convinced Kyle Kuzma won’t be with the Los Angeles Lakers for long.

The LA forward had fans tilting their heads and wondering about his future with the team when he posted a cryptic response to an Instagram post.

“This league is all situational,” the post from @balldon’tstop said. “Kyle Kuzma had to alter his entire role and approach when the Lakers got AD and LeBron and it led to an NBA title. Unfortunately in todays casual world, this can lead to folks thinking someone isn’t a good basketball player and forgetting all about who they were when they got to play to their strengths. He will get back to his true self soon. Just watch.”

“Sooooon 🤫,” Kuzma wrote in reply.

Immediately, people wondered if that “soooon” was referring to an imminent trade that would allow him to prove himself away from Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

Kyle Kuzma has trade rumors swirling

More likely than not, Kuzma’s posts have to do with his belief that he’ll prove the haters wrong, rather than any inside information that he’s expecting to be traded.

He’s made similar noises before on social media

A trade would have to happen to take Kuzma out of LA. He just signed a three-year contract extension keeping him with the team through the 2023-24 season.

The Lakers do need to decide where Kuzma’s value lies. He could be a trade asset, or they could decide to continue letting him develop into a different role where he is.

In 2020-21, Kuzma averaged 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. His scoring averages and minutes have decreased since Davis and James arrived.
