Some rough news has come in for the Dallas Cowboys, as Mike McCarthy said Dak Prescott took a step back with his shoulder injury and he’ll miss the first preseason game of the year.

Just when Dallas Cowboys fans thought they could be fired up about Dak Prescott’s return from his fractured ankle, the stud signal-caller is dealing with another injury. This time for Prescott, it’s his throwing shoulder that’s giving him issues.

So much in fact, Prescott wasn’t able to throw at a recent practice and he won’t be doing so again on Tuesday. On top of that, head coach Mike McCarthy has said that Prescott won’t be playing in the Hall of Fame Game against the Steelers.

Dak Prescott has already been ruled out of the Hall of Fame Game against Pittsburgh

The fact that McCarthy said Prescott has taken a step back is of course not great to see. While this could end up being a preventative measure to make sure he’s fully healthy for the 2021 campaign, it’s not a good sign that Prescott’s injury is already a focus at camp.

He was able to bounce back in a big way this offseason in his rehab, working his tail off to make sure he’d be ready for this upcoming season. With him clearly being motivated to put last year behind him, this latest news is a bummer to see.

The Cowboys have high hopes for this year, as last season’s playoff-less season is something Jerry Jones hated to see. Now that Prescott is ready to grind, though, this team not only has postseason expectations, but they want to make sure to win the NFC East as well.

In order for that to happen, Prescott will obviously need to be close to 100 percent. That shoulder needs to get better and fast.
