Which athlete won the most medals at the 2021 Olympics?

Which athlete won the most medals at the 2021 Olympics?

The 2021 Olympics are officially over and man, what an olympics they were! There were some intriguing storylines, records being broken, tears shed and overall, a successful Olympics.

But now that the final olympic medal has been handed out, many of us are wondering what country earned the most medals and what athlete took home the most. We covered which country took home the most medals here and we broke it down by gold medals, medal count and men and women. But we’ll detail some of the highest award winners right here.

These three athletes were the top earners at the 2021 Olympics

In terms over overall medal count, Australian swimmer Emma McKeon took home the most. She earned a whopping seven overall (four gold and three bronze) in the following events.

  • Women’s 100m Freestyle
  • Women’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay
  • Women’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay
  • Women’s 50m Freestyle
  • Mixed 4 x 100m Medley Relay
  • Women’s 100m Butterfly
  • Women’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay

In terms of who won the most gold medals, it was Team USA’s Caeleb Dressel with five total medals, all gold. He earned in the following events.

  • Men’s 100m Butterfly
  • Men’s 100m Freestyle
  • Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay
  • Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay
  • Men’s 50m Freestyle

After Dressel and McKeon there were XX athletes who earned four medals total including:

  • Kaylee McKeown (Australia)
  • Katie Ledecky (USA)
  • Yufei Zhang (China)
  • Ariarne Titmus (Australia)
  • Duncan Scott (Great Britain)
