Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw some light passes before the team’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Prescott has struggled to stay on the field during Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, as the Dallas quarterback suffered a shoulder injury just after recovering from his broken ankle. He’s maintained the treatment plan on his ankle in the meantime, but he hadn’t been allowed to throw for the majority of the last week.

That is, until Friday night’s preseason contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Prescott traveled with the team, and made an appearance on the field to do some light throwing. Stephen Jones’ addressed any injury concern with Prescott pregame as well.

“He is really coming along well. He’s putting some real heat on the ball now. We certainly haven’t ruled out seeing him in the preseason,” Jones said.

Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott ready to put injury woes behind him

Prescott’s been visibly frustrated with his injury status all of training camp, as it evidenced by anyone who watched Hard Knocks on a weekly basis. The Pro Bowl talent wants more reps, as he doesn’t want to go into next season cold.

That’s a legitimate concern from Prescott, but there won’t be a next season if he can’t stay healthy. Hence Mike McCarthy’s viewpoint in keeping his star quarterback out of action for now.

But Jones not ruling out seeing Prescott play in the preseason is relatively unbelievable given these games don’t remotely count on the stat sheet. However, if it’s the difference between Prescott being fully adjusted come Week 1 or struggling out the gate, perhaps he makes a valid point.
