The Los Angeles Lakers are extending an opportunity to former Laker, Isaiah Thomas, along with Darren Collison and Mike James.

There have been talks about the Los Angeles Lakers extending a handout to Isaiah Thomas, but now it’s coming into fruition. After extensive talks about Thomas’ performance in the Jawsover Pro-Am game, dropping 81 points, people were wondering why he wasn’t getting signed at that moment.

NBA reporters have been making their rounds, mentioning that the Lakers organization wants to work with an old friend. It doesn’t sound farfetched, especially after what they’ve been doing in the offseason signing serious vets around the league.

The Lakers aren’t just extending the Olive Branch to Thomas, though. They’re looking to add more vets to see if they have a chance to join the Dream Team.

The Lakers have one of the oldest rosters this season, but that’s not a deterrent in the slightest. They’re embracing it, inviting not just Thomas, who’s 32, but also Darren Collison, who opted to retire last year at 33. Along with Collison, Mike James, who’s 30, is also being invited to workouts.

Age really isn’t anything but a number, and none of these players should be slept on. James averaged 7.7 points and 4.2 assists per game for the Brooklyn Nets last year, while Collison has put up 12.5 points and 5.0 assists a game over his career.

We all know what Thomas can do, so we won’t dwell on that, but we know he’s had battles with injury. But he said he’s definitely at 100 percent. His words, no one else’s.

Now it’s time to sit back and wait for the final call.
