Despite having so much success with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is hoping to take on a new challenge sooner rather than later.

A world where Josep ‘Pep’ Guardiola is no longer running the show for Manchester City is one that fans don’t even want to think about. Ever since arriving in England in 2016, Guardiola has helped transform City as we know it, bringing in countless titles to Manchester.

With that said, nothing lasts forever, and Guardiola is already thinking about his next step. This week, the veteran manager said that his plan is to leave Manchester City following the 2023 campaign. Goodness.

Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City once his current contract expires

Guardiola has meant so much to City, helping the club win three league titles. The team is the favorite to win it all again this year too. On top of that, after bringing in Jack Grealish this summer, City looks poised to potentially win the Champions League as well.

Last season, City made it to the final but suffered a 1-0 loss to Chelsea. It was City’s first time ever making it all the way, but they, unfortunately, came up a bit short. They’ll look to re-write history next spring.

As for Guardiola, he said he is eyeing the possibility of potentially coaching up an international team, with a South American side being something that attracts him. To be able to coach up a team in the Copa America and then obviously the World Cup is something that entices him.

For now, however, Guardiola’s focus is on having another brilliant campaign with City and trying to win the league once again. Come next season, it will be a ‘last dance’ for Guardiola for the Manchester side. Seeing him leave town will be incredibly difficult for so many.
