LeBron James was among the many Ohio State football fans less than pleased with the Buckeyes in their upset loss to Oregon on Saturday.

Ohio State football fans and Peter Parker circa Infinity War have a lot in common after Saturday — they don’t feel so good.

The Buckeyes came into the second week of the 2021 season ranked No. 3 and as heavy favorites over the No. 12-ranked Oregon Ducks. Even after a concerning first-half in the season-opener against Minnesota, everyone was expecting a get-right statement game from Ryan Day’s group. They didn’t get it.

Instead, fans watched as the Ohio State defense had no answers for C.J. Verdell and the Ducks offense while their own attack couldn’t muster a comeback in the fourth quarter, leading to a 35-28 upset loss for the Buckeyes.

One of the most famous Ohio natives and OSU fans, LeBron James, gracefully showed his own displeasure with the effort from the Buckeyes, particularly the defense, on Saturday in the loss to Oregon.

The NBA superstar and Akron native isn’t wrong in the slightest. Oregon put on an offensive clinic against Kerry Coombs’ unit on Saturday inside Ohio Stadium. Verdell ran amok (and freely) all day long while Anthony Brown felt hardly any pressure for much of the game.

Part of that is undoubtedly a credit to the Ducks, a team that is showing they have one of the best offensive lines in the country and has plenty of veteran talent at the skill positions. But this is also a concerning early trend for Ohio State, particularly against the run.

Verdell ended the upset victory with 20 carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for 34 yards and another score. This came one week after Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim gashed the Buckeyes for 163 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Ohio State isn’t necessarily eliminated from the College Football Playoff just yet but this undoubtedly makes their road much tougher. If they want to have a chance, though, they need to heed the King’s advice and get the defense into the film room to try and remedy the clear issues present on that side of the ball.
