Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had to leave Arrowhead Stadium in an ambulance after the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

No information was given as to what medical ailment Reid is dealing with, but obviously it’s serious enough to garner medical transport. We wish him and his family the best during this hectic time.

Reid’s Chiefs fell to the Chargers in a close game, and Kansas City is facing a rather surprising 1-2 start.

NFL Network’s James Palmer provided an update:

“Chiefs announced Andy Reid was feeling ill, so he did not address media out of caution. I can confirm he left the stadium in an ambulance. Players didn’t know he wasn’t feeling well and were told he should be ok. Everything is pointing toward the Chiefs taking every precaution.”

The Chiefs did the right thing by playing it safe with Reid, who felt ill after the game. Reid was forced to miss the postgame press conference, as well — a role that was filled by special teams coach Dave Toub.

Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu showed love and support for his coach on Twitter.

Per Adam Schefter, Reid was in good spirits when he left Arrowhead, which is a great sign.

Kansas City’s on-field performance left plenty to be desired, especially considering their defense allowed four passing touchdowns to Justin Herbert. Even Patrick Mahomes struggled to hold onto the ball, throwing two interceptions.

It was a very uncharacteristic game for Reid’s Chiefs, though their minds are surely elsewhere given the status of their head coach.
