Bryan Harsin will have to make his first tough decision as the Auburn football head coach this week on whether he should start TJ Finley or Bo Nix at quarterback vs. LSU on Saturday night.
Auburn football head coach must pick between TJ Finley or Bo Nix to start at quarterback vs. LSU.
Nix had been the longtime starter for Auburn, but he was benched last week at home vs. Georgia State in favor of Finley, who propelled the Tigers to victory. While Nix is a legacy quarterback down on The Plains, it is not like Harsin recruited him to Auburn in the first place. He was the longtime head coach at Boise State before coming to the SEC. So who should it be vs. LSU: Finley or Nix?
Nix is of the belief that unless he hears otherwise, it should be him. Of course, he thinks this…
Auburn QB Bo Nix on the Next Round Live show on what he’s heard about whether or not he’ll start against LSU: “They (Coach Harsin & Coach Bobo) haven’t told me anything, so I wouldn’t think anything has changed and if it does that’s just their decision.”

Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin must pick between TJ Finley or Bo Nix
While Harsin was non-committal on the issue during Monday afternoon’s press conference, one would think he is closer to rolling with Finley than not. However, there is one big concern regarding Finley. Even though Nix has struggled mightily on the road in his Auburn career, Finley only transferred over from LSU after last season. He knows the Bayou Bengals, but they know him.
Bryan Harsin on QB1 vs. LSU: "That has not been decided yet. I know depth charts come out -- depth charts are a little bit old school. So many things change during the week... We're going to get our QBs prepared today and tomorrow morning."

So what should Harsin do in this tough situation? He should at the very least keep it close to the vest and not tell the media anything. Once we see who takes the field for the first offensive series on a Baton Rouge Saturday night, then we will know. Given how things ended last week, it would not be shocking to see Finley make his first career start for Auburn against the team he played for.
Had Auburn been going up against any other team outside of LSU, the answer would be Finley.
