The Clemson football team could have freshman running back Will Shipley back in a few games.

Lost in the crushing road loss to the NC State Wolfpack, the Clemson football team suffered a myriad of injuries up in Raleigh, including what looked to be a scary knee injury for freshman running back Will Shipley.

Though his teammate Bryan Bresee is done for the season, Shipley is expected to be back for the Tigers in three or four weeks. While Shipley has already been ruled out for Saturday night’s big game vs. the undefeated Boston College Eagles, there is a chance the former five-star running back could return for the Tigers’ next game vs. Pittsburgh. Clemson will be on a bye in Week 6.

In the meantime, expect for Kobe Pace to get the bulk of the carries out of the Clemson backfield with Shipley being out and Lyn-J Dixon having entered the transfer portal previously.

Will Shipley injury update: Clemson football player out for three to four weeks

Given that Clemson is not playing for a national title this season, the smartest thing to do here is take every precaution in getting Shipley back on the field healthy. If the Tigers want to make noise in 2022, or potentially win the ACC for a seventh year in a row, they are going to need him down the stretch to help them win big conference games. Boston College is tough, but it is what it is.

After a disaster of a game on Saturday, at least Shipley’s health update is of the positive variety.
