K’Vaughan Pope is no longer a member of the Ohio State football team after last Saturday.

In the aftermath of his highly publicized halftime outburst, former Ohio State football player K’Vaughan Pope has been dismissed from the team.

While he will still be on scholarship for the rest of the semester, Pope’s time as a Buckeyes linebacker are over. Tweeting from the locker room at halftime while Ohio State was drubbing Akron was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He is the second former Ohio State linebacker to leave the program one way or another in the last week following Dallas Gant who entered the transfer portal.

Pope tweeted an apology on Sunday, but him letting his emotions get the best of him has brought an end to his time with the Buckeyes.

Ohio State football team dismisses LB K’Vaughan Pope after Saturday outburst

“K’Vaughan will continue to have the use of programs that benefit our student-athletes, such as our Student-Athlete Support Services Office, and we will support him with his progress toward graduation,” Ryan Day said. “He will remain on scholarship through the duration of this semester.”

While Ohio State had no issues getting to 3-1 on Saturday, the Buckeyes find themselves as the No. 11 team in the country entering Week 5. Though that is a favorable position to be a New Year’s Six team and make the College Football Playoff, keep in mind two of the top five teams in the country hail from the Big Ten: The No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions and the No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes.

Pope may have seen his snaps reduced, but the Buckeyes defense remains a big issue for them.
