Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson’s pearl necklace has gone viral, and his reasoning for wearing it is even more badass.

Pederson’s necklace was revealed to the world last week in the middle of an at-bat, as the Braves outfielder opted to let it breathe in the middle of an at-bat.

Of course, Pederson and his pearls immediately went viral, as no MLB player has swag that looks like that. If anything, Pederson is a trend-setter.

When asked about the necklace this week, Pederson didn’t have much of a story behind it. Instead, he told Dave O’Brien of The Athletic he’s just that awesome. Of course, I’m paraphrasing.

Braves: Joc Pederson leads revamped outfield into the playoffs

Considering the Braves lost Ronald Acuña AND Marcell Ozuna by the All-Star Break, their run to the playoffs is borderline miraculous. Sure, Atlanta still has capable pitching in Charlie Morton, Max Fried and Ian Anderson, plus one of the best hitters in all of baseball in Freddie Freeman, but this team has rallied around the sum of its parts better than any in recent memory.

Pederson was acquired near the trade deadline, as was Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall. All three are likely to get significant time in the outfield come the NLDS.

Check mate, Alex Anthopoulos.
