Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler shares uplifting tweet about team performance: “Huge team win yesterday; proud of all my brothers.”

It’s possible that Spencer Rattler may not be playing for the Sooners come Week 7 — but as long as he’s in Oklahoma, fans should adore the quarterback as a team player.

Rattler was benched on Saturday during the second quarter of a game against the Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams replaced Rattler at quarterback, arriving on the field in spectacular fashion: his first play of the game was a 66-yard touchdown.

Oklahoma came out with a 55-48 win, putting the promising team at 6-0 to start the season. After the win, the Big 12 team now ranks No. 6 in the Top 25 rankings.

Despite his benching, Rattler showed support for his teammates as their ultimate goal — another win — came to fruition, even if he watched it happen from the bench.

While Rattler has demonstrated that he’s a gracious team player who may stay in Oklahoma after all, the benching could have significant consequences on his future NFL Draft stock.

Rattler entered the 2021 season as the Heisman Trophy favorite and could even become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. But if the 21-year-old quarterback gets decreased playing time in Oklahoma, there’s a chance he could transfer to bolster his resume while he can.

Last season, Rattler made 214 completions on 317 passes, racking up an astounding 3,031 yards, 28 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. While Rattler’s completion percentage has jumped from 67.5 to 74.3 percent, he has already thrown five interceptions this season.

Rather than opting early for the 2022 NFL Draft, Rattler could stay in college another year and boost his NFL Draft stock if it continues to take costly hits.

“The Arizona native could be a fit at Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Utah, Colorado in the Pac-12,” wrote FanSided’s Patrick Schmidt following the Texas game. “Outside of the Pac-12, Miami, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Texas A&M are programs that offered the former No. 1 quarterback recruit out of high school.”
