The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves began Game 1 of the World Series at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night.

After advancing out of the American League, the Houston Astros opened the 2021 World Series hosting the NL champs, the Atlanta Braves, at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night for Game 1.

This was a highly anticipated series with two teams who have been red hot throughout the postseason to get to this point doing battle for the right to claim a World Series win.

So which team was able to get the early advantage by winning the first game?

Who won Game One of the World Series: Astros or Braves?

The Atlanta Braves picked up a crucial World Series Game 1 win over the Astros on Tuesday with a 6-2 victory over the Houston Astros.

Jorge Soler set the tone immediately for the visiting Braves with a solo home run on the first at-bat of the game. Atlanta added two more runs in the first two innings before Adam Duvall hit a two-run homer in the third to make it 5-0.

The Astros tried to chip away at the lead, getting on the board with a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and then an RBI groundout in the eighth. However, with Atlanta also getting another run in the top of that inning and getting a strong performance from their bullpen after starting pitcher Charlie Morton was forced out of the game with a broken leg, that pushed the Braves to the win.

These teams will be back in action for World Series Game 2 on Wednesday night with the first pitch at 8:07 p.m. ET.
