After an embarrassment at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Detroit Lions winless season continues

Surprise, the Detroit Lions are not a good football team! Who would have guessed?

After trading away Matthew Stafford and then hiring the worst head coaching candidate, the Detroit Lions signposted this offseason that they were going to continue being a bad football team. On top of that, the Lions had one of the toughest schedules this season, and wins were going to be hard to come by.

The Lions only had a few potential wins on their season, one of which was their Week 8 meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles. After a 44-6 loss to those Eagles, it is safe to say the Lions are now officially failing to meet the floor level expectations that had been set for them this season.

Detroit now goes into the bye week with an 0-8 record. This has many fans questioning the possibility of another zero-win season for the Lions. Looking forward to the remaining schedule, it is hard to give Lions fans any hope.

The Lions have one of the toughest remaining schedules in the league

The Lions have nine games remaining on the schedule, and almost every single one of them is against a team that is miles better than them.

They have one game remaining against every other team in the NFC North, which will all result in losses. The Packers are miles better, the Vikings are miles better, and even the Bears, on their worst days, are better.

The out-of-division games are just as rough for Detroit. Right out of the bye week, they match up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who just defensively stifled the Cleveland Browns. Then, ironically, they get the Cleveland Browns, who will be coming off the roughest stretch of their schedule and looking to enter the bye with some wins.

In case their matches against two hot AFC teams do not go poorly enough, they get games against NFC powerhouses next. The Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks will meet Detroit late in the season, almost like a second bye week. The Cardinals will be fighting for the top seed in the NFC, while the Seahawks will be fighting for a playoff spot. There will be no mercy from either team.

The only two games remaining on the schedule that should not be completely lopsided are their matches against the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos. Are both teams better than Detroit? Yes. Does that mean these are guaranteed wins for them? No.

The Lions need to bank on these games if they want to win anything this season because, otherwise, they will be the first team in NFL history to go 0-17.
