While Houston Astros fans were hoping for Carlos Correa to come back next season, it doesn’t look like that will happen.

Thousands of baseball fans are hoping their team ends up winning the Carlos Correa sweepstakes. The slugging shortstop would be a major addition to any lineup. Fans of the Houston Astros have been holding out hope that a reunion will take place. Well, per one insider, that won’t happen.

According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Astros are out when it comes to potentially re-signing Correa to a big-time deal. Per Nightengale’s sources, the standout player simply wants too much money.

MLB rumors: Astros-Carlos Correa reunion unlikely

It has felt for a while now that Correa wouldn’t make his way back to Minute Maid Park. The two sides have never been close on a long-term contract. Even before the season ended, Correa seemed pretty frustrated with the extension talks with the front office.

Now, it’s basically a done deal that he’ll be playing for a new club starting next season. He continues to be linked to teams like the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and more. It’s been a bit of a surprise that he’s still out there in free agency.

However, a recent report came out and said that some teams are a bit hesitant on offering him a monster deal because of potential problems with his lower back. Despite that, Correa is still expected to land himself a major deal at some point soon.

Will it be the Yankees? Will Marcus Stroman’s recruiting efforts get things over the line for the Cubs? No one knows, but we do know that Correa won’t be getting things finalized with Houston for another go with the AL West club, per Nightengale.
