Who cares if he got a contract extension on Tuesday night? Florida State football fans want Mike Norvell fired after dropping the ball on Travis Hunter’s recruitment on Early Signing Day.
Hunter flipped to Jackson State to play for Seminoles legend Deion Sanders. This is so beyond embarrassing for Florida State fans, but it is truly an indictment on the Norvell regime in Tallahassee. This should be the best program in the ACC, all things equal. Florida State should be one of the five best jobs in the country, yet here we are. What are the chances it’s over for Norvell?

Fire Mike Norvell: Would Florida State really fire its head coach after this?
Realistically, Florida State is not going to fire Norvell after losing a recruit on Early Signing Day, no matter how much the fanbase wants this to happen. However, there may be no going back after this. If a head coach loses the fanbase, it’s over. Norvell has gone 8-13 in his two years on the job. He never won fewer than eight games in any of the four years he was the head coach at Memphis.
Even if Norvell got an extension, Florida State will have no choice but to kick him to the curb if the Seminoles do not achieve bowl eligibility in year three. This is Florida State, people! Bobby Bowden once had this program finishing in the top four an unprecedented 15 years in a row. All the pressure is on Norvell and his coaching staff to have the Seminoles playing in a bowl next year.
The only thing that would be crazier than Hunter committing to Jackson State is for Florida State to abruptly fire Norvell in the same week after getting a contract extension and seeing Hunter flip to go play for Coach Prime.
