3 teams that need to send Calvin Ridley trade offers to the Falcons right now
By John Buhler
The Alabama connection is a strong one within the Philadelphia Eagles offense
Even though they play in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles have the draft compensation Atlanta would be hoping for in a blockbuster deal involving Ridley. The Eagles have three first-round picks this year: The No. 15 pick from the Miami Dolphins, the No. 16 pick from the Indianapolis Colts and their own first-round pick that could end up being either No. 19, No. 25, No. 29, No. 31 or No. 32.
Not only do the Eagles have any combination of three first-round picks to entice Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot to make a deal, but Ridley would be going to an Eagles offense that already has a strong Alabama connection in quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver DeVonta Smith. The Eagles are in the playoffs this year because of their rushing attack, but need balance.
The only other team in the NFC that can offer more than the Eagles is the New York Giants, but the G-Men have so many other issues at hand in their massive rebuilding process. On paper, Philadelphia makes a ton of sense, but in reality, these two avian NFC teams play fairly regularly due to being in the same conference and competitive balance. They will not play in 2022, though.
Atlanta should make this deal if the Falcons expect Ridley to be one-and-done in Philadelphia.
