NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has thanked Tom Brady for an outstanding career after the signal-caller announced his retirement.

Everyone is racing to thank Tom Brady for his unreal career. On Tuesday morning, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback took to Instagram to let his fans know he’s retiring. From that second, Brady has been showered with love.

Now, you can add NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to the list of folks who have let Brady know just how much he has meant to the game. While the two have had their issues in the past (Defelategate), Goodell released a statement in honor of Brady.

Roger Goodell knows the NFL will never see another player like Tom Brady

“Tom Brady will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play in the NFL,” Goodell said in part of his statement. “An incredible competitor and leader, his stellar career is remarkable for its longevity but also for the sustained excellence he displayed year after year.”

While Brady will surely be humbled after seeing this, you also can’t forget about the beef between these two in the past. In May of 2015, the NFL announced that Brady had been suspended for four games without pay for violating the ‘NFL policy on the integrity of the game.’

The suspension came from the Pats being accused of using deflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game vs. the Colts. Brady was then going to take legal action against the NFL, but he ultimately ended up serving that suspension.

New England ended up winning the Super Bowl that season and countless folks couldn’t wait to troll Goodell after he handed Brady the Super Bowl MVP trophy. That scene will never be forgotten by Pats supporters.
