Miami head coach Mario Cristobal is trying to poach Georgia defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae away from Kirby Smart’s staff this offseason.

After Kirby Smart successfully brought Bryan McClendon back to Athens, Mario Cristobal is trying to land one of his Georgia coaches at Miami with Florida native Jahmile Addae.

Though Addae had only been on Smart’s staff for one year, the former West Virginia player and defensive backs coach saw the Dawgs win the College Football Playoff. With Cristobal back at his alma mater, he is doing his part to assemble a first-class coaching staff. He has already added Kevin Steele as his defensive coordinator and Josh Gattis to run the Miami Hurricanes offense.

If Miami is able to pry Addae away from Georgia, this would be another tremendous get for the Hurricanes program on their quest towards becoming nationally relevant again.

While there have been a multitude of factors that have prevented Miami from being The U for the better part of this century, a big issue has been their underwhelming coaching staffs. This is because the university did not invest in football as any blue-blood should. Now that Cristobal left all the Phil Knight money behind at Oregon, he is in Coral Gables to get his alma mater back on top.

There is no reason why the Hurricanes cannot contend for the ACC Coastal in year one of the Cristobal era. They don’t play in the same division as the Clemson Tigers. With former Pitt star quarterback Kenny Pickett turning pro, Miami stands a great chance of getting to Charlotte next December. By potentially adding Addae, Miami can win big on the field and on the recruiting trails.

Expectations may be sky-high for Cristobal in Coral Gables, but he is crushing it this offseason.
