Liverpool fans are furious after VAR robbed them of goal in Carabao Cup Final
Joel Matip appeared to have a go-ahead goal in the books for Liverpool, but a VAR call went against Virgil Van Dijk in dramatic fashion.
The drama at Wembley Stadium can’t be described right now. The Liverpool fans just went nuts in the Carabao Cup Final, with Joel Matip scoring a wonderful header for the Reds to give them a 1-0 lead over Chelsea FC.
However, those celebrations quickly were washed away, as VAR was called for a potential foul on Virgil Van Dijk leading up to the goal. It was determined that Van Dijk impeded with Reece James, so the goal was disallowed. As you might have been able to guess, LFC supporters can’t believe this.

carabao cup extra time rules
The semifinals and final of the Carabao Cup will involve extra time, expected to be 30 minutes.
In the first rounds and the quarterfinal, there was no extra time. That has changed as we near declaring a true winner.
VAR has broken countless Liverpool hearts in London
That was really a close call, but it looks like Van Dijk is just using his body to try and gain position. The center back couldn’t believe VAR went against him in this case, and neither could manager Jurgen Klopp.
Meanwhile on the other side of things, there was pure relief for Chelsea. The Blues have blown multiple chances in this final, none bigger than Christian Pulisic’s golden chance early on in the first half. Mason Mount also has had multiple opportunities to give Chelsea the lead, but he disappointed as well.
This contest is going to be talked about for a while. This VAR decision from the referee is sure to be discussed as well, with everyone who loves Liverpool nothing short of disgusted with how things played out there.
