The Chattanooga Mocs are headed to the NCAA Tournament after a wild buzzer-beater win over Furman in the SOCON Championship.

Al Michaels said it best.

“He did WHAT?!”

In this case, it was the Chattanooga Mocs that banked a three-point shot at the buzzer to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Good gosh — from half-court and covered by two defenders. David Jean-Baptiste will forever be enshrined in Mocs’ glory, helping the squad earn a 64-63 win over Furman and secure a berth in the big dance. The graduate student and Miami native recorded 13 points on the night, the last 3-pointer coming on the biggest shot of the season for the team thus far.

The Mocs are now heading to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2016 season, where they lost to Indiana in the First Round. The school is making its 12th appearance all-time, their highest finish being a berth in the Sweet 16 in 1997.

Chattanooga is heading to March Madness after a wild buzzer-beater shot in overtime

The tournament hasn’t even started yet, and already Chattanooga has proven that it is indeed March, and it’s madness. The Mocs will for sure be dancing, and they owe it all to their players who grinded until the very last shot.

Kansas transfer Silvio De Sousa led the team with 17 points and helped them overcome a halftime deficit and withstand a phenomenal performance from Furman’s Mike Bothwell, who scored 24 points in a losing effort.

Another ticket has been punched, and it came on a last-second shot. Congratulations, Chattanooga, for not only winning the Southern Conference but for reminding the country that it’s March — and that means madness.
