With his latest contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Kirk Cousins continues to bring in huge money on an annual basis.

The NFL has not been short on quarterback news throughout the past week. Aaron Rodgers returning to the NFL, Russell Wilson traded to the Denver Broncos and Carson Wentz getting dealt to the Washington Commanders. Then Sunday, March 13 happened.

Shortly after Tom Brady announced he was coming out of retirement after less than a month, reports indicated that the Minnesota Vikings and quarterback Kirk Cousins have agreed to terms on a one-year, $35 million contract extension.

Cousins was entering the final year of his two-year, $66 million contract, where he carried a massive cap hit of $45 million.Cousins is coming off of a season where he threw for 4,221 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 66.3-percent of his passes.

They ultimately got it done, and now, Cousins is set to make $70 million over the next two seasons.

According to Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti, Cousins’ cap hit for 2022 is lowered to $31.4 million. For next season, Cousins’ cap hit comes in at $36.25 million. That is due to the two voidable years added to his deal.

There is no doubt any longer, the Vikings will have Cousins as the team’s starting quarterback for the 2022 season under new head coach Kevin O’Connell.
