March Madness is under way and the Creighton Bluejays are gearing up to face the San Diego State Aztecs. It’s pretty clear where San Diego State is located, but where on earth is Creighton University?
If you’re not from certain parts of the Midwest, don’t keep up with the Big East, or you aren’t an ardent college basketball fan, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re not familiar with Creighton University or the Bluejays that represent the university.
That’s totally and completely understandable, Creighton is a pretty small school. So, where is it located?
Where is Creighton University?
Creighton University is a private, Jesuit university that was founded in 1878. There are nearly 9,000 students enrolled at Creighton.
The campus happens to be nestled right in Omaha, Nebraska, home to the College World Series. Settled just north of downtown Omaha, Creighton’s campus is located a handful of blocks away from the host site for the College World Series.
Creighton men’s basketball games take place at CHI Health Center, which is a popular venue used for concerts, basketball games and a long list of other events including boxing matches and the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.
Creighton Bluejays NCAA Tournament history
The Bluejays have managed to compete in the NCAA Tournament on 23 occasions. However, even though Creighton regularly makes it into the NCAA Tournament, they haven’t exactly made it all that far.
The Bluejays only have four appearances in the Sweet Sixteen and have only been to the Elite Eight once, in 1941. Creighton’s most recent Sweet Sixteen appearance came in 2021.
