Updated March Madness bracket after First Round
The first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament is officially in the books. Here’s a look at the updated March Madness bracket ahead of the Round of 32.
The madness certainly wasn’t as nuts on Day 2 of the NCAA Tournament but the first two days of March Madness created plenty of memories. No one will forget where Saint Peter’s is after the tiny Jesuit school out of the MAAC stunned Kentucky on Thursday night while a litany of double-digit seeds secured their spots in the Round of 32 with upsets.
The action is set to heat up in the Second Round beginning early on Saturday with North Carolina bidding to upset the East Region’s top seed in Baylor, which will have to navigate the contest without leading scorer L.J. Cryer.
Other highlights from the Saturday slate include UCLA’s showdown against in-state rival Saint Mary’s, Michigan bidding to upend Tennessee and reach the Sweet 16, and a fascinating matchup to end the day as Gonzaga takes on a very dangerous 9-seed in Memphis.

The first weekend of March Madness will wrap up on Sunday with action from the pods in Greenville, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. Several double-digit seeds will look to extend their NCAA Tournament runs into the Sweet 16 as well with Miami, Notre Dame and Iowa State trying to build off of their opening-round upsets.
Other Sunday storylines include Duke’s quest to get Mike Krzyzewski back to the Sweet 16 in his final year as the Blue Devils’ head coach and an intriguing matchup in Pittsburgh between Villanova’s high-powered offense and a rugged Ohio State defense that smothered Loyola Chicago in the first round.
