The Saint Peter’s Peacocks continued their Cinderella run to the Elite Eight with an epic upset over Purdue and Twitter absolutely loved it.
Saint Peter’s isn’t done shocking their opponents or the world.
On Friday, the Peacocks became the first team in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight as a No. 15 seed when they upset the No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers.
Just like their previous upset victories, this one featured intense defense and unbeatable togetherness.

Saint Peter’s is the ONLY team to win multiple games as a double-digit underdog in an NCAA Tournament since the tournament expanded in 1985 (+18.5 vs Kentucky, +13 vs Purdue) pic.twitter.com/AJygIkVgzW

This Saint Peter’s run is the greatest.

I’m blown away by Saint Peter’s, though. There has not been a single second in this Tournament where this run seems fluky. Not a moment where they seem flustered or scared of the moment. They defend their ass off. They execute the gameplan perfectly. They run great stuff.

Saint Peter’s got 14 points out of Daryl Banks III and overcame KC Ndefo fouling out to best the Boilermakers. They had a disadvantage under the basket but never let Purdue get too comfortable, punishing their mistakes on both sides of the floor.
Now the Peacocks can look forward to facing either UCLA or UNC in the Elite Eight. They’ve already made history. Who knows what kind of waves they’ll make next.
