Is Trey Wade related to Dwyane Wade?

Is Arkansas basketball forward Trey Wade related to former Miami Heat great Dwayne Wade. The two have a connection but it’s not by blood.

Fans tuning in to watch Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament can’t miss Trey Wade, the Razorbacks’ forward.

Based on his last name and the fact he wears No. 3, you wouldn’t be the first to wonder if the two are related.

It turns out, they’re not.

Is Trey Wade related to Dwyane Wade?

Wade actually called attention to the whole “he’s named Wade and he wears No. 3” thing on Twitter.

During Arkansas’s upset victory over Gonzaga, Dwayne gave a shout-out to Trey.

“Watching the Arkansas vs Gonz game and seeing the number 3 with the Wade name is dope!!!” Wade tweeted.

Like everyone else, Wade was just watching Arkansas and made the connection. They are not related.

However, they’re definitely connected now. Trey tweeted Dwayne after the game while the former Heat guard gave a message to Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman.

“Big Win Coach! You’re smart; you have a Wade on your team,” Wade said.

Trey has played for UTEP, Wichita State and Arkansas during his career. As a veteran player, he’s taken on a leadership role on his current squad.

He had 15 points and seven rebounds against Gonzaga as the Razorbacks knocked off the No. 1 seed to advance to the Elite Eight.

On Saturday, they took on No. 2 Duke with a place in the Final Four up for grabs.
