The Kansas Jayhawks are the third team of four to punch their ticket to the 2022 Final Four and will play Jay Wright’s Villanova Wildcats on Saturday in New Orleans.

There is only one No. 1 seed left in March Madness and that is the Kansas Jayhawks, who just punched their ticket to the Final Four.

Despite being down at halftime to the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes, Bill Self’s team responded and throttled Jim Larrañaga’s squad in the final frame, 76-50. This is the 16th time Kansas has cut down the nets. It is their first trip to the Final Four since 2018 and the fifth time Self has guided the Jayhawks this far into the NCAA Tournament before. They can absolutely win it all right now.

But before they do that, who will No. 1 Kansas be playing in their national semifinal game?

March Madness 2022: Who will Kansas play in the Final Four?

Because the Jayhawks won the Midwest Regional Final, they will face the winner of the South Regional Final in the national semifinals in New Orleans on Saturday. That means they will take on Big East college basketball power Villanova in the Final Four. The last time Kansas made it to the Final Four, Villanova beat the Jayhawks to reach the national title where they clobbered Michigan.

Even though the Jayhawks’ side of the bracket features two elite basketball blue-bloods, it will be the other side that will have the nation’s attention. No. 2 Duke won the West Regional Final on Saturday night. This is Coach K’s last tournament as the Blue Devils head coach. His team will either face arch rival North Carolina or perhaps the greatest Cinderella of all time in Saint Peter’s.

If Kansas can beat a depleted Villanova team, the Jayhawks will be playing for a national title.
