The national anthem at the NCAA championship game between the Kansas Jayhawks and UNC Tar Heels had a distinctly New Orleans feel to it.
Every big game gets going with a rendition of the National Anthem. Some venues look for celebrities to take the spotlight. Others look for artists with a local flare.
New Orleans made sure the national anthem at the NCAA championship game on Monday was true to the city and its jazz roots by bringing in a band to run the show.
Here’s how it went:

Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Tarriona “Tank” Ball sang the national anthem
People at home loved it, even if it was a bit unexpected.
GREAT ANTHEM.

The anthem wasn’t traditional but it was certainly memorable. It was a great way to set the mood for what should be an exciting national title game between two of the best programs in college basketball.
Kansas is a No. 1 seed looking to live up to all the hype by finishing off their tournament with a title. North Carolina came in as a No. 8 seed but played like the blue blood they are as they stormed through to New Orleans. Each side has history. Each has hopes of lifting a trophy, but only one can win the ultimate prize on Monday night.
