Romeo Doubs might not be the highest-picked rookie wide receiver for the Packers but Aaron Rodgers is already taking notice of him at training camp.

The biggest question of the 2022 offseason for the Green Bay Packers has been what the team is planning to do at wide receiver after trading away Davante Adams while also losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown in free agency.

Most figure that Allen Lazard is set to play a much more significant role in Green Bay’s offense than he has in years past while the franchise’s second-round pick in this year’s draft, Christian Watson, will have high expectations placed upon him.

However, it’s another rookie — particularly with Watson starting training camp on the PUP list — that is already catching the eye of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Packers news: Romeo Doubs draws praise from Aaron Rodgers

On Saturday while talking with NFL Network, Rodgers spoke highly of fourth-round rookie Romeo Doubs.

“Romeo Doubs has had a really nice start to camp,” Rodgers said. “Getting a lot of attention based on some of the plays he’s made. Like the approach, very understated kid, very humble kid…We all feel really good about Romeo and the start he’s off to.”

Doubs was considered by many analysts after the draft to be one of the higher-upside value picks of the class, which is what the Packers sorely need. He amassed over 2,100 yards and 20 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Nevada in college while displaying solid downfield and all-around ability as a player.

Of course, Rodgers talking up a rookie in the first few days of camp doesn’t mean that much. At the same time, though, this is a quarterback who’s been pretty notorious for not making rookie receivers a priority, so his praise could indeed have some on-field implications.

What’s for certain is that the Packers need Doubs to be a factor if Rodgers wants to go back-to-back-to-back as NFL MVP and if Green Bay wants to have the offense to compete for a Super Bowl.
