Pittsburgh football win total prediction: Over 8.0 (-155)

It’s hard to have a read on Pitt this season given that they lost perhaps their three best assets that helped them win the ACC last year: Kenny Pickett, Jordan Addison and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple. Yet, they have a strong run game, an offensive line returning every starter, and USC transfer Kedon Slovis at quarterback. Oh yeah, the defense also should be just as good as it often is under Pat Narduzzi. I lean to the over because of the head coach, but 8-4 is the most likely outcome for me.

Syracuse football win total prediction: Under 4.5 (+100)

Outside of Sean Tucker at running back, what have we seen from Syracuse that would lead you to believe that this team wins five games to hit the over?

Tucker is an incredible talent, but he’s a Rolls Royce on a car lot with Toyota Corollas. The one hope for this team is former UVA offensive coordinator Robert Anae bringing his fast-paced, multi-faceted offensive attack to the table, but the personnel isn’t as good for the Orange as it was for the Hoos. With questions in the front seven on defense too, I just don’t see it for ‘Cuse.

Virginia football win total prediction: Under 6.5 (+115)

Speaking of Anae leaving, I don’t think we can overstate how big that could be for Virginia this season. While Brennan Armstrong was impressive in that offense, going from Anae to Tony Elliott — who was heavily criticized for the Clemson offense last season — could take him down a peg, even with Billy Kemp IV leading a talented and experienced receiving corps.

Moreover, the offensive line is going to be completely new and the defense has no way to go but up after a dismal performance in 2021. With the talent of Armstrong the skill positions, I won’t say this team misses a bowl game, but I’m confident in the under.

Virginia Tech football win total prediction: Over 6.0 (-115)

Another coaching change, Brent Pry comes from Penn State to Blacksburg to try and get the Hokies back on the right track. Grant Wells will give the offense a boost as he impressed at Marshall before transferring and the rushing attack should be quite good too behind three returning starters on the O-line. Pry needs to get his hands on the defense and work his magic, which could yield impressive results with a great back seven and unproven defensive front.

All told, this is another case where a push is most likely — but I like the boost Pry could bring to bet the over here.

Wake Forest football win total prediction: Off the Board

Given the injury to Sam Hartman and, more notably, his uncertain timetable for return, this number is no longer on the board at WynnBet. And really, without the star quarterback on the field, it’s hard to handicap what Wake Forest is going to look like in the 2022 season. Thus, it’s probably good that the bookmakers themselves are forcing us to stay away.
