Before the Ohio State football showdown with Notre Dame, C.J. Stroud took it upon himself to ensure his teammates showed up in style.

Notre Dame is ranked No. 5 in the country. So, C.J. Stroud, quarterback of the No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, decided to help his team look good and play well.

Ahead of the Buckeyes’ bout with the Irish in Week 1, Stroud told his teammates in practice that he would hook them up with a $500 gift card to Express for each player so they could get a suit and look good for Saturday Night’s clash in The Shoe.

That alone shows what kind of a leader Stroud is. Not only does he want to play well against a strong opponent, but he wants his team to arrive in style. Given how the Buckeyes are a huge favorite heading into the matchup, you might as well live up to it by coming out in style.

Ohio State football: C.J. Stroud gifts teammates suits ahead of Notre Dame game

Expectations are high for Ohio State football and C.J. Stroud this year. Last year, they wound up in the Rose Bowl, winning a tight contest against Devin Lloyd and the Utah Utes. Now, given how they return several starters and role players from last year’s team, the Buckeyes have national championship aspirations.

Given all that went down last year, including a loss to the Michigan Wolverines, vengeance is on the mind of the folks in scarlet and grey. Moreover, Ryan Day made his thoughts about last year very clear: It’s championship or bust in Columbus.

C.J. Stroud made a great gesture for his teammates. Now, it’s upon them to look good both on and off the field, as the fans in the Horseshoe do not want to experience disappointment this early in the season, especially given how they are heavy favorites heading into the Notre Dame game.
