The Cincinnati Bengals’ offense will not have one of their top weapons in the passing attack for some time.

After starting off their season 0-2, the Cincinnati Bengals won four of their next five games and hold first place in the AFC North. The defending AFC champions are looking to make another trip to the Super Bowl, which will require wins. However, their offense has taken a massive hit.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has a hip injury that could sideline him between four-to-six weeks. Not only that, but Schefter says that Chase could be a candidate to hit the injured reserve.

Bengals will be without star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase due to hip injury

Schefter says in the tweet above that Chase had suffered his hip injury during the team’s Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints, and then aggravated it last week. Additionally, Chase met with a specialist on Wednesday and will seek out more answers.

Recently, Chase had recorded back-to-back 100-receiving yard games. In Week 6 against the Saints, he caught 7-of-10 targets for 132 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score. This past week against the Atlanta Falcons, Chase recorded eight receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns on 11 targets.

On the season, Chase recorded 47 receptions for 605 yards and six touchdowns.

Chase’s injury is a huge hit to the Bengals offense. He has a rapport with quarterback Joe Burrow dating back to their time playing for the LSU Tigers in college. Now, Burrow will set his attention on Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd as his top receiving options in the passing game.

The Bengals play the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 8.
