UFC Vegas 70: Twitter reacts to Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann cancelation
The MMA community reacts to Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann being canceled in the middle of the UFC Vegas 70 card
A top-10 light heavyweight matchup that was scheduled to headline today’s UFC Vegas 70 card has been canceled.
Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann was called off in the middle of the event and announced by the UFC broadcast team as the main card began.
According to the UFC, Krylov fell ill while at the UFC APEX and the decision was made to not allow him to compete in the fight. While there was speculation in the broadcast about the illness coming as a result of Krylov’s weight cut, there is obviously no official word or confirmation yet on what his illness is or stems from.
The middleweight co-main event between Andre Muniz and Brendan Allen will now serve as tonight’s main event, which will remain a three-round fight due to the short-notice nature of the bump up. The main card will go on with just four bouts — the heavyweight clash between Augusto Sakai and Don’Tale Mayes will now be the new co-headliner.

Krylov has won two straight, finishing Alexander Gustafsson in 67 seconds in July and defeating Volkan Oezdemir by decision at UFC 280.
Spann, an alum of Dana White’s Contender Series, has won three of his last four, most recently knocking out Dominick Reyes in 80 seconds at UFC 281.
