Tiger Woods is back at The Masters, but for how long will he keep coming to Augusta? His latest quote casts doubt on his future at this tournament.

There are 15 major championship victories on the resumé of Tiger Woods, but it’s hard for golf fans to not immediately envision him at The Masters. It’s where he began his reign of dominance in 1997 as the youngest winner at Augusta National Golf Club, where he defied the odds in 2019, and where he made his improbable return to golf in 2022.

It’s a special place for Tiger Woods himself and for golf fans who have loved the 82-time PGA Tour winner throughout his career. And it’s hard not to cherish every time we see him at The Masters — but we might need to do that even more so ahead of the 2023 trip to Augusta National.

Speaking with the media on Tuesday before the tournament, Woods was asked about his health and, consequently, how long he planned to keep playing The Masters. His response was ominous in the uncertainty of it as he stated he didn’t know how much longer he could do this or how much longer he could play.

Tiger Woods on Masters future: ‘I don’t know how many more I have in me’

When it comes to Tiger Woods, one thing that has long set him part is the edge he plays with. He’s an ultimate competitor who knows two speeds — 0 or 100 mph. He’s long said that when he’s no longer able to compete, then he’ll know it’s time to step back.

Given his health, with his legs in particular after the 2021 car accident, that time seems to be coming sooner than hoped. Yes, he’s still trying to play all four majors this year, but we saw earlier this year at the Genesis Invitational how grueling it is for Woods to just finish four rounds, much less contend and compete.

So really, the message is just to cherish Tiger Woods playing at The Masters. We don’t know how many more times we’ll be able to see it — and apparently, neither does Tiger.
