Today’s USMNT news includes Joe Scally opening up about Qatar, Olivier Giroud complimenting Christian Pulisic and Javi Gracia explaining how vital Tyler Adams is for Leeds United.

USMNT news: Joe Scally’s intriguing interview

Joe Scally has been on impressive form for Borussia Monchengladbach this season and he has recently signed a new contract with the Bundesliga side. However, he did not play a single minute at the World Cup.

In an interview with ESPN Scally was honest when asked who he thought the next USMNT head coach should be. “I think a coach that definitely understands we’re not a club team. We need to just understand simple tactics, a simple system that we can all apply that brings out the best in all the players. Not something to where it’s too complicated and you’re overthinking on the field.”

This comment seems to be taking a dig at Gregg Berhalter’s tactics. Some players who were involved in Qatar have recently backed Berhalter but Scally appears to have the impression that their former head coach is out of the running for the vacant position.

USMNT news: Olivier Giroud praises Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea career has hit a bit of a hiatus recently but he has been praised by a former teammate. Olivier Giroud speaking on CBS Sports Golazo revealed what it was like to play with the American. “He was a happy boy. Always good vibes. Smiling. My understanding on the pitch with him was top, a bit like Eden [Hazard]. He’s the kind of player that is very skillful, he can dribble, play the 1-2”

Frank Lampard has recently left Pulisic out of games which has led to more fans believing that his time at Stamford Bridge should be up. However, there have been reports that incoming Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino would like to give him a chance.

USMNT news: Javi Gracia on Tyler Adams

Javi Gracia has now been sacked as the manager of Leeds United and has been replaced by Sam Allardyce. It looks to be a desperate attempt by the club to avoid relegation by bringing in a survival specialist like Allardyce.

Leeds may not be in this position if it was not for the hamstring injury that Tyler Adams picked up, Adams has missed their last eight games and Gracia has revealed how crucial the USMNT midfielder was to the side.

Speaking to The Athletic, Gracia said “The injury to Tyler Adams did not help us because we don’t have so many players of this profile in central midfield. He is a player who really makes a difference when it comes to interceptions and recoveries and he really covers the ground. It was a big blow to lose him for the season.”

Adams has been a miss in the defensive midfield role that he plays for the Elland Road side. While he has been gone, Weston McKennie has had to fill in his position which has led to his lack of form. Gracia’s comments are high praise and Adams will certainly be in demand this summer.
