Today’s USMNT news includes Weston McKennie being linked with Atalanta. Alan Sonora has been offered to Nacional and Lennard Maloney has said he wants to represent the Stars and Stripes.

USMNT news: Weston McKennie to Atalanta

It was reported that Juventus had frozen out Weston McKennie. However, he has since been spotted in Turin back in the Italian side’s colors. Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has also denied that McKennie was not part of the club’s plans.

Although, there is still a lot of speculation about McKennie’s future. According to Calciomercato, Atalanta could take the player on loan. It would be a good move for McKennie as he will be able to stay in Serie A at a club that will be in the Europa League next season.

McKennie has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund but this could be a difficult move he used to play for their rivals Schalke 04. Despite the USMNT midfielder not impressing for Leeds United in the second half of last season, there is also reported interest from the Premier League.

USMNT news: Alan Sonora to Nacional

Alan Sonora has recently been released by Mexican side FC Juarez. Many fans wanted to see the USMNT player come to MLS. However, it appears more likely that Sonora will return to South America.

Valentin Canale has reported that Sonora has been offered to the Uruguayan team Nacional and that he wants to play in the Copa Libertadores.

Sonora started his career with the Argentine club Independiente but he was born in New Jersey when his father Deigo was playing for the MetroStars.

USMNT news: Lennard Maloney to represent the USA

Lennard Maloney who plays for FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga has represented Germany’s U19s and has also played for the USMNT’s U20s. Maloney was born in Berlin but has an American father and he has stated that he would prefer to represent the Stars and Stripes.

In an interview with Kicker, Maloney said “My heart beats more for the USA, I can’t explain that either, it’s just a matter of the heart. It fills you with pride to perform for that country.”
