To end up taking the Claret Jug, though, he was going to have to survive some severe Open Championship weather.
Any golf fan who turned on the broadcast to watch some links golf on the day saw a miserably wet scene at Hoylake in England on Sunday for the final round of The Open. Players were walking unanimously under umbrellas, all wearing long sleeves and rain gear for the concluding 18 holes of the tournament.

While the players might look cold bundled up, it’s actually not too frigid at Royal Liverpool on Sunday with the temperature in the low 60s (F°) for the day. The winds, however were making it much colder than that, particularly combined with the rain coming down. Hence why the players were keen on wearing pretty heavy gear for the final 18 holes.

The radar shown on the broadcast indicated that Open Championship Sunday would stay a rainy one with light-to-heavy rain forecasted periodically throughout the entire day. As mentioned, the winds were also playing a big factor in the weather at Royal Liverpool with sustained 11-15 mph winds in the forecast and gusts blowing up to 21 mph for the day.
