The Denver Broncos had taken  a three-point lead over the Indianapolis Colts, then cornerback Aqib Talib came through with a big play to widen the margin.

Sunday’s game between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts has been marred by injuries, keeping CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson plenty busy, particularly on the Indianapolis side as an already injury-riddled defense has been further thinned.

The Broncos took a 13-6 lead into halftime, and the Colts evened things up with a touchdown from running back Robert Turbin in the middle of the third quarter. Then Broncos kicker Brandon McManus gave Denver a 16-13  lead with a 33-yard field late in that quarter. Early in the fourth quarter,  Broncos’ cornerback Aqib Talib came up with a big play defensively to widen the margin.

That is the ninth interception return touchdown of Talib’s career, good for most among active players, and his team-record fifth such return as a Bronco. When taken with Colts’ cornerback Darius Butler’s failure to convert a pick-six earlier in the game (due to an injury), Talib’s play is a momentum shifter and may provide an ultimately insurmountable margin for Indianapolis.

If the Broncos’ do win the game, it won’t be the only good news Talib gets on Sunday. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Talib is not expected to face league discipline stemming from his odd shooting incident in Dallas from over the summer. Rapoport did add the caveat of no new evidence discovered by local police, but the incident happened in June and at this point new evidence or witnesses surfacing seems unlikely.
