World Cup, Portugal vs Ghana: live stream, start time, TV info and more
By Mike Dyce
Portugal and Ghana come into Thursday with their World Cup hopes in tact. A win for either team could put them in a position to win and advance to the “Round of 16.”

Ghana has the best chance of the two teams to advance, with only two goals separating them and the United States in the goal differential. A United States loss and a Ghana win would pull them level on points and the tie breaker would be that goal differential. If the United States were to lose by one goal, Ghana would need to win by two goals to advance because a one win loss would have Ghana and the USA sitting at a perfect zero in the differential. Since the USA beat Ghana, they’d get the tie-breaker.
Portugal needs to win and win big. Of course if the United States were to lose, or Germany for that matter, the more goals they lose by the less Portugal needs to win by. Five goals separate the United States and Portugal in the differential heading into Thursday.
Portugal sounds a bit pessimistic about advancing, even though they’re not technically eliminated.
“Things still look pretty bleak for us,” said Portugal’s Silvestre Varela, via the Mirror. “We wanted the win and we’re a bit down about how the game against the USA went.
“We have to keep on believing though. Playing for Portugal gives us strength and we’ll fight till the last minute.
“That’s what the team did against the USA. We battled and battled, even if it wasn’t enough to get the win. We now have to go and win our last game and hope that things happen elsewhere.”
