Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles wanted a new deal and was thinking about holding out earlier this week. On Tuesday it was confirmed that Charles would be in fact holding out.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

On Wednesday, the Chiefs gave Charles a two-year, $18.1 million contract extension through 2017 that ended the hold out. First off, this has to be one of the shortest holdouts in NFL history.

It also prevented a messy standoff and rewarded Charles for being the incredible player he has been over his career. Over the his six year career he has rushed for over 1,000 yards four times. The only two times he didn’t were in his rookie season and an injury shortened 2011.

So as Charles reports to training camp with the hold out ending, he had a little fun on Twitter making the best possible joke about the hold out possible. It was genius and hilarious all at once, and an excuse probably everyone has used before.
