Tyler Eiferts elbow zigged when the rest of his body zagged. He dislocated his elbow in the Bengals’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

More from Cincinnati Bengals

“I could feel that it wasn’t right,” Eifert said, via ESPN.com.

Everyone who watched it happen could see that it wasn’t right. One of the commentators on television immediately recognized the injury — he did didn’t have to see a replay. The good news, however, is that Eifert suffered no structural damage during the injury. He and his elbow should be one healthy entity come Nov. 6.

“That’s what they say. I’m not a doctor,” Eifert said. “I know it hurts right now, but I’m sure it’ll get better and I’ll be ready to go.”

Eifert had struggled with a shoulder injury during the offseason and preseason, so it’s all the more frustrating to add a new injury to the rehab list.

“Every time I feel like I’m getting back into it, something happens,” Eifert said. “It is what it is. It happened. It’s hard to make the most of an injury, but it’s the situation I’m in right now. So just be positive and keep going.”

There’s a lot to be positive about. The time away from contact on the IR designated to return should be good for Eifert’s body. And he was playing well leading up to the injury with three catches for 37 yards. The Bengals will anxiously await his potential return in week 10.
