Josh Gordon on Tuesday entered a guilty plea on a charge of DWI in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to Gordon’s attorney.

Gordon will get 12 months unsupervised probation as a result of the plea and will pay $290 in court costs as well as a $100 fine.

Gordon was arrested for speeding and DWI while cruising around in basketball player P.J. Hairston’s car over fourth of July weekend.

The real question for Gordon is how much extra time might get added to his suspension as a result of pleading guilty.

Gordon’s original one-year suspension was reduced by the NFL to ten games, but under the NFL’s new drug policy it is reported that a conviction and/or guilty plea for DWI would result in an automatic two-game suspension.

So the NFL could presumably add two games to Gordon’s suspension, bringing the total to 12 games. Or it could decide that the ten-game suspension covers the two games already.

Or the NFL could just throw up its hands and admit it has no idea what the hell it is doing.

Suggestion for the NFL: A one-time amnesty for everyone currently suspended. Just wipe the slate clean for everyone and say the new drug policy starts now.

That would actually make things a lot simpler. But the NFL doesn’t believe in making things simple.
