When the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Jeremy Lin from the Houston Rockets in a trade earlier this offseason, they couldn’t have been more excited about the move.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Lin has been a very solid player during his stint with the Rockets (and before that the New York Knicks) though wasn’t exactly much of a fit given the offense ran more through James Harden and Dwight Howard. Now with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeremy Lin will be able to use his pick and roll (along with his pick and pop) skills far more often thanks to an influx of big men on the roster who can hit from outside.

That’s just one of the reasons as to why Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes the Los Angeles Lakers point guard could be named an All-Star this season.

"However, even with so many talented point guards and shooting guards in the conference, don’t be surprised if Jeremy Lin ends up being a starter for the West All-Star team come February. Before you do a spit take and call me crazy, hear me out. With the combined support of Los Angeles Lakers fans and international followers, Lin will certainly be in the mix for an All-Star nod."

As noted by Kennedy, the international aspect is likely to gain Jeremy Lin significant support in the fan vote and we’ve seen how beneficial that has been in the past.

Cracking the deep Western Conference guard rotation won’t be easy for Lin, but combined with his game and international support it’s not difficult to envision Lin being an All-Star for the first time this season.
